Fashion (Glamour) - Pageant
2. How to Crack the Beauty Pageant Audition at your first attempt? (How you should be prepared before going to Audition?)
If you are a fresher or if you are an experienced model that really doesn't matter. If you are really passionate towards it, then go for it. Pageant audition are open for everyone (LOL! Make sure that whether you fit in their eligibility criteria)
If you are a fresher don't be scared to give the audition. They don't expect you to do Catriona Gray's (Miss Universe 2018) Lava Walk ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA0lBxdTXts ) or Rohit Khandelwal's (Mr. World 2016) Model Walk ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUJ2iOUK2s8&t=1s ) . They just want to see your Confidence, Personality, Grace, Dedication, Determination etc., in you & You have to convince the Jury Panel that, the particular organisation can transform you into a Power-Packed Model. This Power is only within you. So today I'm here to give you some tips to How to Crack the Beauty Pageant Audition? & How you should be prepared before going to Audition?
BOOM! I forgot to mention one more thing. If you are an experienced model, Be prepared & be organised. Don't think that you know everything & you can easily crack the audition. Every organisations are not the same. First & Foremost what organisation look in a model is their Personality. If you have a head weight attitude, you'll be the first person to thrown out of the audition. Have a good personality, rest will help you to crack the audition in an elegant way.
First let us move for how to get prepared for the audition at home. (Never ever enter the audition spot without doing your homework)
1. Do research about the particular Organisation:
Google about the organisation, visit their website, check their intentions, go through their previous events, go through their contributions & everything whatever is mentioned on the website. Don't forget to visit their Facebook & Instagram page to check the pictures of their previous events. By this you can come to a conclusion that at what level they'll organize the events.
If yours & organisation's intentions are same, then go for it. If both of yours motto is different, then please let it pass
For example: fbb COLORS Femina Miss India works on 'Beauty with a purpose' project & if you are not interested into that specific program, then don't go for it.
Important Note* Make sure that organisation is genuine or fake. Contact the earlier event Winners of that organisation through Instagram or Facebook & enquire regarding their organisation & about the events. Now if you feel healthy, without a second thought apply for the event.
2. Make a study on the Event & the Title:
If you are a fresher. Follow step by step process i.e., Don't directly hit Miss India/ Mr. India or any other National level biggest or prominent Pageants.
If you have enough confidence that you can make into the finals of Miss India/ Mr. India then go for it. Otherwise start with Regional pageant/ title, then State pageant/ title, then Zonal level, & then National level Pageant
i.e., Practice & Experience makes Man Perfect
If you get a chance to represent yourself in National Pageant even though you are a fresher then go for it. Because your Fortune has knocked your door.
3. Registration Process:
Most of the National Pageants you have to register Online through their registration portal link. Few of the pageants will have spot registration. Before registering to the event, please check with the registration fees too in prior.
Check all the eligibility criteria mentioned in their audition promotion posters or in the website. If you meet all the criteria mentioned by them, then apply for it.
If you don't meet all the criteria/ few of the criteria mentioned by them. Then you are not eligible for the particular event.
Oooops! Wait wait wait! Sometimes you are eligible. How?
Most of the pageants like fbb COLORS Femina Miss India, Peter England Mr. India, Rubaru Mr. India, Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva etc., won't accept you if you won't meet their criteria mentioned by them.
Few other organisations may accept you even though you don't fit in their criteria. The only thing you have to do is to get the helpline number of the particular organisation mentioned in the poster or website, give them a call & explain your problems & find out a solution for it. Few organisations agrees if you even don't fit their eligibility criteria mentioned by them. Make sure that you inform & discuss about this issue with them in prior.
Eligibility Criteria differs from organisation to organisation & pageants to pageants. Your duty is to confirm the particulars according to the event.
The General/ Standard Eligibility Criteria as follows;
SHE: 18 to 25 years of age (25 as of that particular year December)
26 & 27 years of age eligible for Runners up title
Height 5.5" & above

HE: 18 TO 25 YEARS OF AGE (25 as of that particular year December)

Now your actual Homework starts.....

7. Prepare on your Self - Introduction:
I have earlier blogged about "How to give your 'Self - Introduction' in Beauty Pageants like a Pro?" in my previous blog. Follow all the instructions mentioned by me in that particular blog. If you haven't checked please visit https://sanjayneelanchery.blogspot.com/2019/09/fashionglamour-beauty-pageants.html
8. Prepare on your Ramp Walk:
Don't try your own ways of walk. If you don't have a good trainer, it's okay no problem. It's just an audition, you can get tutored on youtube to crack the audition.
Don't search randomly on youtube, because there are lots of different kinds of walk & the walk slightly varies from the national pageants to international pageants. So make sure that you are searching the best videos on youtube. Don't worry I can help you to get the best videos of Ramp walk training.
Don't try Runway Model walk, it is entirely different from pageant walk. So Females please search as Alesia Raut Ramp walk training (Sorry there is no channel of Alesia Raut mam on youtube & there are lots of videos of her so i can't mention all those links over here, so you can directly search likewise on the youtube) on youtube. Please learn only the basics from the videos, don't do twirls & turns if you don't know the techniques. Twirls & turns are not at all necessary for audition purpose. So don't worry about that.
Ramp walk should be learnt in person, not through videos. Videos are just to have a basic ideas to crack the audition.
So guys (males) you can learn your walk by searching this video on youtube > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-gWAV0P_sw
And even there are thousands of videos on ramp walk in youtube which are really bad. So please don't search randomly and stick on to it. The above mentioned links are seriously so professional & good. It helps you to hit the ramp at audition. Follow that video until you get the trainers in person.
"Learning Nothing is far Better than Learning the Wrong Things”
Females > Practice your walk on bare foot in the beginning, then walk on your toes with heels up. Then do the normal walk by wearing your heels to get a good balance. Once you hold a good balance, start practicing your cat walk on pointed heels (no block heels, no wedges, no flats)
Males > Practice your walk on bare foot in the beginning, then start practicing your cat walk by wearing different varieties of shoes.
9. Prepare on Pageant Question & Answers:
It is the segment where you have to give more importance. They don't ask you any General Knowledge questions, they ask only about your life & your life related questions
There are no right or wrong answers for pageant Q&A's. The thing is how you portray your answers, how do you balance your answers by reasoning & how do you convince the judges that your answers holds good for the particular question.
Most of the Divas won the Beauty Pageant Crowns only by cracking the Q&A rounds. The best example is Manushi Chillar's (Miss World 2017) Miss World Q&A round. Her answer melted everybodys heart. The video link is mentioned below & even scripted her Q&A below.

Responding to the same, Chhillar answered, "A mother's profession should receive the highest salary and respect in the world."
Furthermore, Manushi went ahead and spoke about her relationship with her mother. She said, "I have always been extremely close to my mother and she is the biggest inspiration in my life."
Manushi's response garnered her widespread recognition and ultimately made her win the crown for Miss World 2017.
10. MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KEEP IT IN YOUR MIND TO CRACK THE BEAUTY PAGEANT AUDITION:
- Get the documents to the venue that what they have asked you to get. Especially any Govt. ID's > It will have both your DOB (For age proof) & that ID states that you are an Indian.
- Carry atleast 2 of your recent passport photos.
- Carry the specified registration fee (exact change).
- Carry atleast 2 sets of outfits if they don't mention what to carry. If they have mentioned earlier then carry accordingly.
- Carry a basic make up kit. They don't provide you MUA's. You have to do on your own.
- Carry Pointed Heels (Females) & Shoes (Males).
- Prepare for Self-Introduction, Ramp walk & Q&A as instructed by me. Even you can prepare on any skills/ talents that you would love to demonstrate over there.
- Fill the application form properly. Don't leave blank either don't write shits on it & don't even fake it, Write what is Right.
- If jury panel ask you to perform anything. Never ever say 'NO' to them. Just go for it with confidence even if you don't know to perform. For example, If they ask you to sing even if you don't know, just go for it with a try. It shows your dedication & determination towards the work. The judges actually want to learn your Internal Beauty. So they ask you to do so.
- Give respect to Jury panel, to your fellow contestants & to all the instructions given on the audition spot.
- Sometimes you'll be tricked in Q&A round. Don't be rude. Judges want to test your patience. Again that is they wanna learn your Internal Beauty.
- Smile from the beginning to end of your turn.
- Be Enthusiastic.
- Be Strong.
- Be Confident.
- Accept everything with a positive attitude.
- Give the best out of it.
- Showcase your best version over there.
- Communicate with everyone with good eye contact, don't see the floor and speak to anyone out there, especially to jury panel.
- Don't disrespect any Religion, Region, Community, Country, State, Gender, Organisation, Political parties etc.
- "Taste your words before you spit it out."
- For communication language is not a problem. If you are very well at English. Then have a good vocabulary knowledge & present yourself in a splendid way. If you are not good at English. That's fine, it's not at all a matter. India is the nation of Unity in Diversity. You can speak in your regional language.
- And if you are from different place & you are giving your audition in different state, again if you don't know English & the particular Regional language, no problem! Speak in which ever language you are comfortable. Because sometimes any one of the juries might be knowing your language. They may translate it to their co-juries. If not anchor may translate. If not then models might be knowing your language as well as English, they may help you connect each other.
- Do research on the history of pageants. For example how many international crowns India has won till today. For freshers it might be hard to remember. But also it is important to remember it. Their names are the most important. Sometimes the years may get confused but atleast try remembering it.
